Tell Me More

Don’t you just wish you had a fairy godmother who can bippity boppity boo your space and it would be clean from top to bottom without you lifting a finger?! Yeah, I wish that could happen to my own house, too.  I would say the next best thing would be to find some amazing Instagram influencer like Clean Mama and learn some tricks of the trade to clean any space in your home. Today, we will cover only one, but stay tuned and I will bring some more tricks for other spaces in your home.

Today, we will cover some tricks on how to clean a bathroom in easy manageable steps. I am a mom of 4, so my bathrooms need to be cleaned often as you can imagine with 4 kids under 8.  Not only do they need to be cleaned often they need to be cleaned in record time so I can get back to what matters the most, which are my kids.

Bathroom Cleaning in 15 minutes

  1. Gather your supplies and tools: BUCKET OR CADDY to carry supplies from bathroom to bathroom, MICROFIBER CLOTHS one for all the mirrors, one for each toilet, one for each sink, and a couple extras for tubs and showers, GLASS AND MIRROR CLEANER, VACUUM, ALL-PURPOSE DISINFECTANT/CLEANER, SCRUBBING POWDER or SOFT CLEANING PASTE – I use my nightly sink scrub and my spray cleaner or castile soap and scrub what needs to be scrubbed, TOILET CLEANER AND BRUSH, EMPTY CONTAINER for dirty cloths or paper towels
  2. Take your vacuum and start vacuuming all the surfaces in your bathroom. Did you know you could use a horse hair attachment that came with your vacuum? You will thank me later… I like to start with the toilet area then work my way to the floors. The, go to your countertops, sinks, and eventually the floors in those areas as well.
  3. Mirrors - spray and wipe clean. I use a glass and mirror microfiber for lint and streak-free mirrors.
  4. Next, move on to your sink, toilet, and bathtub or shower (if you don’t use a tub or shower regularly, you don’t need to clean it weekly) and quickly spray with your disinfecting cleaner.
  5. Toilet cleaning in and outside of it. Let the cleaner sit in the rim of the toilet for a good 5-10 minutes.  Move on to the next step while you wait.
  6. Wipe the sink, wipe the toilet, and wipe the tub or shower – take care to use a separate cloth or paper towel for each toilet, sink, and bathtub/shower to avoid cross-contamination. Don’t forget to get the base of your toilets too – I wipe these last.
  7. Throw dirty cloths in a basket and wash them well.  Replace your dirty towels for fresh clean ones.

There you have it! This routine when done on a weekly basis will take up to 15 minutes to do.  Get your family involved and turn on some fun music and make it a fun experience.  Every Saturday, I get my family involved, and having upbeat music in the background always makes a mundane task seem more enjoyable.

As always, God bless!
